MAY 2017 RECORD MIRROR
Added quite a number of Record Mirrors to the collection, including many from 1973/4 that were missing. About 5 still missing from 1974, though 1973 is complete from 30th June when the Alternative Radio feature seems to have started.
MARCH 2017 SUNSHINE Added about 20 new recordings of Sunshine 539 from GH collection. A load from 1981, and a couple from 1987 and 1988.
MARCH 2017 RECORD MIRROR

After some time pondering, and receiving some interesting feedback from as far away is distant St Petersburg, it has been decided to attempt scanning the full publications of certainly Disc which have been borrowed.

As a result, more time will have to be spent on these pdfs, but as they are not available anywhere else, it may be a great archive for the future, to have complete editions of record mirror and also of disc.

Therefore already have 2 editions of Record Mirror from July 1973, and 2 of Disc from 1971 full editions on line.

There are quite a few extra Record Mirrors uploaded as well, with the radio sections, from late 1974, as well as a Veronica Week article from a 1970 edition.

MARCH 2017 RECORD MIRROR

After quite a lot of preparation, a page is now added for Record Mirror scans, mainly from the time it was called Record and Radio Mirror. There are many gaps, though these gaps are closing up gradually.

FEBRUARY 2017 PIRATE RADIO AUDIO - CORK

After a long break of activity here due to work commitments, some new Cork recordings have been added that came via IB, many of which were Anoraks Ireland tapes. Some were originals which were sold off when Anoraks Ireland folded..

As they are all Cork recordings mainly from 1982, 83 and 86 so far, they are all on the Cork audio page.

New 2017 is in blue beside the newer files.

MAY 2016
Distracted here by the good weather and sometimes the idea of being sat in the front of a pc during red hot sunshine is not very exciting!! Don't worry, there are more updates to come, inc ABC Waterford photos that were sent to us from PH. In the middle of a lot of different updaters.
MAY 2016 RADIO NOVA AUDIO PAGE

Added 6 Energy 103 recordings from GH, and some Nova from 1982 (4), one Nova from 83, and one more from the last day in 1986, all via the collection of GH.

MAY 2016 RADIO DUBLIN AUDIO PAGE
Added Boola Boola by Drifter Sound to the Radio Dublin audio page. Also created a Radio Dublin Audio download page, as we have more to add, so the listing in a general download page seemed a poorer option..

APRIL 2016 PIRATE RADIO AUDIO - CORK

Added 9 recordings of ABC and CBC Cork courtesy of Pat Healy from 1978. These are really early days of the Cork Pirates, and much appreciated. Also a couple of early CBC promotional items courtesy of Patrick.

Added another ERI and South Coast recording from 29/30th October 82 courtesy of GH.

These new recordings are indexed on Cork download page at the moment but next major update we shall copy links to audio files to the various stations home pages as well..... Currently some South Coast stuff is in the Cork page and other downloads in the main Irish download listing.

APRIL 2016

IRISH DOWNLOADS INDEX

Added a few recordings of Boyneside Radio, CRD, and Carousel, inc a sign off, in a start to adding a number of recordings. Found via downloads Irish index..

APRIL 2016 RADIO NOVA HOME PAGE

Added some further recordings of Nova from June 1983 from GH, as well as March 1986 and Nova's closure.

Added Nova recording from 26th Sept 84, to add to the set of the rest from that day.

Added a couple of recordings of Nova jamming from the Shankhill area on MW, including signals changing between 819 - 828, both recorded in Scotland. Early August 1983.

APRIL 2016
Note that as April 2016, we are not going to the trouble of listing the size of every file. This is mainly due to software like firefox effectively streaming audio files now, as well as modern fibre broadband speeds, so file size is of much less concern nowadays. File sizes range typically from a few meg for clips, to maybe a few hundred meg for a longer recording. An idea can be seen of the file sizes that are already listed.
APRIL 2016 WKLR HOME PAGE
Added some further recordings to the WKLR page from GH, and a couple of photos of the MW transmitter as it is today.
APRIL 2016 RADIO NOVA TIMELINE

Began to create a time line history for Radio Nova and affiliated stations.

Originally no link was included as it was only just a new page and new project. But decided to include it anyway.

APRIL 2016 WICKLOW COMMUNITY RADIO HOME PAGE

Updated the WLCB / Wicklow Community Radio pages with another recording found in the collection of DS.

APRIL 2016 ENERGY 103 RECORDINGS

RADIO NOVA HOME PAGE

NOVA 1981 PRESS

Updated the Radio Nova family of radio stations with another forgotten call sign. Zoom 103, used briefly pre Energy 103!! Well done to GH for finding all the recordings in his extensive archives.

Also added a KISS FM sticker, and audio file.

Added Energy 103 stickers, and leaflets and a pdf of a sort of a newsletter thing. Poor quality.

Tweaked the Nova bouquet of stations and offshoots pages a little.

Added a couple of old manky press cuttings of Nova in 1981.

Generally began to tidy up the Nova downloads page a little, so that all the other off shoots of Nova are separated from the main Nova downloads.

We can also expect some text from Energy / Zoom era soon, and perhaps where the Nova power 103 era fits in to the history as well.

APRIL 2016 WICKLOW COMMUNITY RADIO HOME PAGE

Updated the WLCB / Wicklow Community Radio pages and added a collection of various photos and promotional material to hand, and an audio tape.

5th April - Further recordings of WLCB and Viking 105 added......

Also added some news clips regaring Viking 105.

ABC DUBLIN HOME PAGE

CAPITOL 220 HOME PAGE

ICBS HOME PAGE

CRF HOME PAGE

Added recordings of Radio City Dublin, ICBS test transmission 1982, Kildare Community Radio sign on, and CRF first days broadcast, from GH collection.

New pages made for ABC Dublin (Parnell Street), Capitol Radio Dublin (1978 version), ICBS and CRF which never had a page on the a/z index. New pages were added recently for ABC Cork, Caroline Cork and maybe one or two more.....

Much of the Cork audio material uploaded recently still has to be indexed on the main Irish Downloads index page.

Note: Why is it every time I look for my 1981 photos, I end up re scanning the bloody lot. The rescans seem to be forever disappearing..!!!

FEBRUARY 2016 PIRATE RADIO AUDIO - CORK
Added a South Coast Radio recording from 1982, recorded in Blackpool.
FEBRUARY 2016 1983 RAIDS AUDIO PAGE
Added a Boyneside Radio 244 recording that has been missing from the 1983 page for years. This seemed to go a stray, and had to be re recorded!!
FEBRUARY 2016 OFFSHORE RADIO DOWNLOADS

Added a pile of files from GH collection of Caroline in 1984 mainly with Keith King, recorded in 2014 for Keith. This is the first they have been uploaded to the site though.... We meant for these to be linked up at the time. When we read the news of Keith's death it was thought to be time to link them up at least as a tribute.

Also a few files from 1985, 86 and 88 added in Feb 2016, and are marked as new Feb 2016..

The files are reasonably large, I have not taken the time to fill in file size just yet....Some are around 160 meg etc....

FEBRUARY 2016

CCLR HOME PAGE

PIRATE RADIO AUDIO - CORK

GH has added yet more recordings from April 1982, from CCLR, Cork. Included in that is a mention of CCLR in Casey Casem's Top 40 on the first shorter rec.

Added better res shots of CCLR studio and transmitters in 1982, including the full scans, available by clicking the image. The scans are good enough to read the signs on the walls.

FEBRUARY 2016 SUNSHINE RADIO AUDIO

Geez, GH has added an amazing number of hours to his April 1982 visit to Dublin, and the Sunshine recordings. They are not quite continous, prob due to the bar being open???? lol..

Also found an unlinked to file from 1984 with Dave Lyons and Cathy Cregan....

All the recent additions are marked in red as new Feb 2016..

Finally added the clip about Mi Amigo sinking from BBC as mentioned a few days ago. Forgot to upload the audio clip....

FEBRUARY 2016 SUNSHINE RADIO AUDIO

When working on the site again after a couple of years, a series of recordings were found from reel, recorded in Dublin by GH on holiday in 1987. The quality is very good for 30 year old recordings.

There is also a couple of tests of early Sunshine in 1980, which were in the same folder, and unlinked. So now they are all available.

There is also another long recording from 1982 with Johnnie Lewis in lovely 91.6 FM stereo.

FEBRUARY 2016

MI-AMIGO SINKS

ABC WATERFORD AUDIO

While looking for orphaned files and bad links in general, I found a poor attempt by BBC Radio 1 at humour in connection with Caroline's ship shinking in 1980.

Updated ABC Waterford with a 2 hour good stereo recording of a station tour on the last day. Source poss Jolly Joe?? This for the last day which was 29th December, not the 30th, which is listed in Rodney's tapes.

FEBRUARY 2016

PIRATE RADIO IN CORK

PIRATE RADIO AUDIO - CORK

SUNSHINE RADIO AUDIO

RADIO LEINSTER

Worked out the cause of a few dead links on the Sunshine downloads page. A capital letter on Sunshine, Fri and Tues etc!! Also file names being changed in a set of files, that went un noticed. Remember to report dead links!!!

Added another CCLR sticker courtesy of Patrick Healy.

Further Cork recordings added of Capital Cork, South Coast and Leeside from 1982, as well as the only recording available of Middleton Community Radio..

Added some extensive navigation menus in the Irish Era area, and changed how the menu behaves (doesn't vanish so fast on mouse out)

Added Radio Leinster article in Sounds Alternative from 1978, though page needs upgrading!!!

Added index page for Limerick pirates, similar to what we have already for Donegal, Waterford, and Cork.

Finally trying to sort out audio for Big L, and Radio Luimni.

Added recording of LBC Limerick, from the archives of Dave Small, as well as Radio Limerick.

FEBRUARY 2016
Working on the site and navigation quite a bit, and updated the Irish Era with more navigation options in the pop up menu.
FEBRUARY 2016 1988 MASS CLOSEDOWNS

Edited some links on the 1988 closedown page, as some of the links were dead. Should be all right now. Very sad page but historically intersting. Thanks to GH for his hard work compiling this page.

FEBRUARY 2016 EXIDY 738 MAY 1984

Added the EXIDY page that had gone a stray in updating. This was compiled by Gary in 2014, commemorating 30 years since the one day only EXIDY broadcast. Lots of new long recordings of Nova and of course the EXIDY broadcast.

Also linked in Magic, KISS, Energy, Nova and Exidy pages, all the Nova offshoots.

JANUARY 2016 PIRATE RADIO IN CORK - AUDIO DOWNLOADS Added a page of audio downloads to accompany the Cork pirates upgraded pages.
JANUARY 2016 PIRATE RADIO IN CORK After the publication of the pirate radio book about the Cork pirates, we were inspired to upgrade the Cork pages on this site and supply what material we can find, in much the same way we did with the Waterford stations..
JANUARY 2016 RADIO SCOTLAND SHOWBEAT MAGAZINES
Back at work, and have added 4 new issues of the Radio Scotland 242 magazines, and tidied up the page a bit, in preparation for maybe adding more showbeat mags!!

More work is being done on the site, so bear with us.

JULY 2014 RADIO 4U, CO DONEGAL HOME PAGE
And is is just great getting contributions from the people that were there. Patrik Garten mailed us with a pdf of his station's history, which did not even have a page on this site simply because we didn't really have any info on Radio 4U.
JULY 2014 BIG L LIMERICK HOME PAGE

Mike Richardson of Big L in Limerick has supplied a web link with some superb text and history of Big L.

Also there are higher res images and some new shots that have never seen the light of day on the BIG L home page.

JULY 2014

COMMUNITY RADIO YOUGHAL HOME PAGE

After a long period of low activity here, some updates were made to the 1980's Irish pirate pages. This was encouraged by contributions, and of learning of various web links.

Community Radio Youghal have some videos on YOUTUBE, and linked via the Youghal on line web pages. There was much discussion about the old days when their MW signal travelled well out into Europe.

There is now a fairly reasonable collection of recordings available on the CRY pages, some recorded at night on 1512 in Scotland, but anyway they are of much historical value.

JULY 2012 AUK INDEX

The complete Anoraks UK Weekly Report collection is now on line as of 28th July. I think a pat on the back for a good few weeks work of long boring scanning and preparing files for the web etc!!!! The end result is a great piece of broadcasting history, which has been archived here.

Files may be updated in the coming weeks. Bookmarks for example were forgotten till later on in the project. But the scans and the file names etc will remain. Any link errors should be reported!! Thanks to all those that have written with appreciative comments. That alone makes the work well worth it.

JULY 2012 VINTAGE WIRELESS INDEX THE BOYS WIRELESS ANNUAL 1925 BY MICHAEL EGAN, is the latest vintage wireless offering here. It is around 82 meg to preserve quality. The book is pretty well advanced to be called a BOYS annual.
JULY 2012 AUK INDEX

UPDATE: Completed the issues available right up until the final issue from September 1989. The missing issues are promised for the last week in July. That could be described as a good week's work.

Completed up to the end of 1988 with the AUK reports. Also receiving some assistance from Matt of the pirate archive web site regards to a few missing issues.

JULY 2012 AUK INDEX
Completed 1985 and 1986 Anoraks UK weekly reports now. All are in a decent resolution to preserve legibility. Gradually working our way to the full set. Some earlier issues are required from 1983 and 1984.

JUNE 2012 RADIO NEW YORK
During the discussions about the AUK sheets, we were talking about the benefits of having original newspaper cuttings to scan. The subject of THE VOICE came up, which was a New York weekly, that had a long article about Radio New York in 1987.
JUNE 2012 AUK INDEX
A lot of cropping and straightening etc has been done in the last couple of weeks, before adding a whole lot more Anoraks UK weekly reports to the site. As of 26th June, we have added all the reports we have so far from 1983, and 1984, as well as the full year of 1986. 1985 still has some gaps, but will be the next stage. The missing issues are also being sourced.
JUNE 2012 AUK INDEX
AFTER a successful few days hard scanning all the back issues of the Anoraks UK Weekly Report, they are gradually finding their way on line. We have started off in 1985 and 86. There are some random issues that were on line before, which will be removed when the monthly pdf files are created. But new for June is January - April 1986 so far, and adding.

JUNE 2012 RADIO GEMINI HOME PAGE
Added pdf files of the GEMINI GEMSHEETS. These were press clippings (photocopies). There are also sales lists, info sheets, and added some better res scans of stickers and QSL's to the page. There are also some Gemini Mini Posters, and links to some audio files on our download section.

APRIL 2012 SOUTHSIDE RADIO HOME PAGE Added a T-SHIRT image from Southside Radio, and created a pdf of the ad rate cards. There is a badly needed increase in resolution due of many of the images on this site, which have been on line since the early days of the web as we know it.
APRIL 2012 SW PIRATE RECORDINGS Added a few air checks of SW pirate Radio Rabbithole from 1983. This was Radio East Coast Commercial and Norman Nelson etc, hiding behind the name Radio Rabbithole. I don't think it was too hard to hear who it really was ..LOL.
APRIL 2012

SONIC INDEPENDENT RADIO (home page)

SONIC INDEPENDENT RADIO AUDIO

Added audio from Sonic Independent Radio to aid a forth coming documentary about Sonic Independent Radio. Also uprated one or two of the photos on the home page, including the transmitter image from 1981,
MARCH 2012 DOWNLOAD PAGES

The various download pages that were thought to be all nicely indexed for the last week of so were in fact not!! If anyone out there notices broken links, please report them. The offshore page and Nova, Sunshine Kiss, West, as well as Rodney's collections, should all be working now. As of 7th March, there is one page to go, which will have to wait. Dinner date!!

UPDATE: OK, All done I think. Please report broken links.

MARCH 2012 OFFSHORE DOWNLOADS PAGE
Added about 10 gigs of recordings to the offshore index page, of long reel to reel tapes of Caroline 1990 / 89, as well as Laser 558 / 576. These were recorded by Steve West about 160 miles from the ships, and are of variable quality, though unique recordings that have never been circulated.
MARCH 2012 Radio Scotland LP Page Added some decent scans of the Radio Scotland LP and labels after finding an album on ebay. The audio file hasn't changed though.

FEBRUARY 2012:

UPDATE 1st MARCH: Think that the restructure work of the audio downloads is as good as finished. Anyone that finds any broken links, please advise. There were a few missing files that need finding again, and uploaded. Updates will be listed here.

Back at work again here at the DX ARCHIVE, after a long break. The structure of the audio files on this site are being reorganised, meaning first of all that all versions of the site will be navigable from any local hard drive. As the site is around 50 - 60 gig at this stage, it will certainly not be able to be copied to a CD any longer!!

This means though that there won't be audio files scattered on different servers, and all the files will be kept together and linked, and will play from the html pages even from a pc not connected to the web. For convenience, this was not the case in the past.

Initially enthusiasts may have to trawl through root files, much like az Anorak, but we hope to have a full indexed system soon, which gives us the opportunity to make comments on any of the recordings that have any comments to be made. Sometimes you can't manage all the details on the file names, and we have a tendency to avoid using the id3 tags.

On the other hand, Rodney N has his collection, or at least some of it, archived alongside our own material. Rod makes extensive use of the ID3 tag.

The download listings start at this page. downloads.html

UPDATES TO DX ARCHIVE.COM - 2011

FEBRUARY 2011 DCR HOME PAGE Added a Donegal Community Radio poster, and sticker.
FEBRUARY 2011 Radio Caroline 20th Ann Book
Radio Caroline 20th Ann book, published by Monitor Magazine. Long out of print, and rare. Let's hope there is no one objects to this one. There isn't really anyone to ask. And the Monitor project on line seems to have come to a halt. It is a 50 meg pdf file, so quite a large download, in order to preserve quality.
FEBRUARY 2011 Radio Nova Home Page Added a Radio Nova sun visor from 846kHz days. ie an early sunstrip. Also added a scripf from 1983 in a pdf of Dublin Today.
FEBRUARY 2011 Radio Caroline 60's page Added a 1964 booklet about Radio Caroline from the early days, as well as some membership cards and press release from Frank. This material is pretty rare we feel. Enjoy.

JANUARY 2011 County Donegal Pirates Index Added some other rare recordings of early Donegal pirates. Radio Donegal and Donegal Community Radio
JANUARY 2011   Been adding links to the A/Z index of Irish Pirates on various station home pages. Many never had a backwards "in your face" type link. The all have the pop up / navigation menu of course.
JANUARY 2011 KELO HOME PAGE

Added photos and high res images of the crap scans that were on line for years on the KELO page. In the background, a load of old KELO recordings have been transferred to mp3, and will be available shortly.

The plan is to go through each page with poor res images and uprate them. It does all take time, loads of time. But work is in progress.

JANUARY 2011
Re added the Community Radio Drogheda pdf which seems to have vanished in the upheaval a few months ago and has only just been noticed absent. Also was advised of an article about the early days of wireless on the Mull of Kintyre had vanished as well. Both we are happy to say have been reloaded. Please do help the archive by reporting broken links.
JANUARY 2011 County Donegal Pirates Index
Working on various County Donegal stations, and trying to provide a dx clip for many of them, ie a recording made in the UK. Updated Radio Nova Fahan, KTOK, Glencoe Radio, North Atlantic Radio, and the Donegal County index page.
JANUARY 2011 ANORAKS UK WEEKLY REPORTS
Added a few Anoraks UK weekly reports while searching through them for dates and frequencies. Ended up uploading an initial 12 or so issues from the end of 1985. These sheets are such a mine of information from 20 odd years ago, that they are worth while uploding the entire collection.Obviously that will take some time, but a task we must try and get torn into this coming few weeks.
JANUARY 2011 RADIO SWEDEN HOME PAGE

Also finally found the old Sweden Calling DXers theme tune. It does not include the continuity announcement between news and SCDX, but better than nothing. The clip is from 1981, and includes a report about Radio Caroline due back on 1st September 1981!!! It was nearly two years later when they finally made it back to the air. Also added a printed version of SCDX bulletin that used to be mailed out to dxers. The printed bulletin included sinking of the Mi Amigo.

Added a few items from Radio Sweden, including QSL CARDS, and posters and an old audio tape from the Radio Sweden Saturday Show.

JANUARY 2011 ARD / 257 HOME PAGE Added a couple of images on ARD (Dublin) home page.
JANUARY 2011 MIDWAY RADIO HOME PAGE Typo in MIDWAY RADIO MULLINGAR home page. Repaired

JANUARY 2011 DCR HOME PAGE Added a few photos of Donegal Community Radio
JANUARY 2011 RADIO CAROUSEL NAVAN PHOTOS Finally replaced a corrupt quarter image on this page with a copy of the original. Sorry Kieran to cut you off like that for so long.
JANUARY 2011 VINTAGE WIRELESS INDEX

It was pointed out that a pdf file had been moved from the Vintage Wireless section. WOOPS. This must have been a dead link since the site was reorganised last year. PDF reinstated. Tnx to Graham. Also added a few more links to pdfs within the MW DX sister site. These are to vintage booklets etc. The Burrows book from 1924 is worth a read.

If anyone else notices a dead link, please report it. Thank you.

Added files on Radio West home page, and also created a new page for Midway Radio, both Mullingar stations of the 1980's.
JANUARY 2011
Added links direct to the audio root archives to the home pages of a number of the Irish stations which we already have old recordings available of. These include NCCR, ARD, Big M, Boyneside Radio, Coast 103, Energy 103, KISS FM Monaghan, MAGIC 103, Radio North, Q102, Radio Carousel, Radio Dublin, Radio Rainbow, South Coast Radio, Radio Star Country, Sunshine Radio, Radio Nova, WABC Greencastle, and WKRC
JANUARY 2011 NWCR HOME PAGE Inserted a few new images on the NWCR page, from Buncrana, Co Donegal. The station was well heard in the UK. Also found an older white sticker with 1 mf freq.

2010

DECEMBER 2010 RADIO SCOTLAND AUDIO Added a rarer Richard Park rec of Radio Scotland. I wish we could source the original tapes from these reccordings. They must be 20th generation copies.....

DECEMBER 2010 LIBERTY 104 HOME PAGE ADDED A PAGE AND VARIOUS PHOTOS AND IMAGES CONNECTED WITH LLCR. LIBERTY 104, a 1980's Dublin station.
DECEMBER 2010 RADIO SCOTLAND HOME PAGE
Added two Radio Scotland Showbeat magazines from December 1966, and January 1967. The files are around 30 meg. The file size is kept quite large to preserve quality. Thanks to Richard Crichton of Glenrothes for the loan of the originals.
DECEMBER 2010 NORTH CORK COMMUNITY RADIO HOME PAGE
Added a pdf of an A4 sheet which was kinda folded into three, but much of the cardboard sheet had to be turned around and around again to view, so it is reproduced as a pdf.
DECEMBER 2010 SUNSHINE RADIO HOME PAGE
Added a Winton Research radio survey for Dublin from 1987. This research shows Sunshine 101 well out in front. I guess this was the one that Sunshine organised???
DECEMBER 2010 RADIO CAROLINE - 1960's Added a 1960's Radio Caroline booklet as a pdf, as well as some other items from the archives from the 1960's.
DECEMBER 2010 RADIO NOVA HOME PAGE Added a 1983 Radio Nova Rosette, and a 2002 Radio Nova interview with Chris Cary from Hot Press by Stuart Clarke. The article contains inaccurate information, eg the date of the raid. Also added an old logo of WIRL 1290 from the states. The logo is very similar to NOVA's. Also added the article about Chris Cary - NO MORE MR NICE GUY!!
DECEMBER 2010 NORTH CORK COMMUNITY RADIO HOME PAGE Updated the NCCR Page with the images we have of the studio. This will go nicely with the press cuttings we addres a couple of weeks ago. DECEMBER 2010 RADIO SCOTLAND HOME PAGE Have updated the Radio Scotland 242 pages using all the material to hand. New material comes from various sources, and included the rare Radio Scotland Vinyl LP.
DECEMBER 2010

Bear with us. Been scanning a load of slides loaned from Steve West, who made three country wide trips in the 80's. 86, 87, 88. Another long task, but worth while archiving for sure.

2010 has certainly been the most active year as far as fixing out navigation and smartening up this site.

DECEMBER 2010

Noted a few errors in the work over the last couple of weeks, not least a link to WKLR full sized poster not included. It is now. Also been adding more entries to the all time MW logs, and even included a section for other interesting dx.
DECEMBER 2010
Added a pdf to the listings of past Irish stations, of the 1988 (July) Anoraks UK list. This was kept pretty much up to date and revised every now and again as changes took place on the MW band. The list here is very authentic looking!!
DECEMBER 2010
Added an article about Radio City shooting from the Daily Telegraph, June 1966
DECEMBER 2010
Added some press cuttins from 1981 to the North Cork Community Radio home page.
DECEMBER 2010
Been adding more stations and frequencies to the all time Irish MW list. By no means is this project finished. There are so many stations and frequency hopping in the past that tracking each down is difficult.
NOVEMBER 2010
Been scrounging through a load of old log books to find loggings of Irish MW and FM stations as heard in the UK. This listing includes the many harmonics heard. It is by no means a final list, but it is a rather good start.
NOVEMBER 2010
Added a rare Radio Caroline 1977 top 100 album poster including a full size jpg for reprinting.
NOVEMBER 2010
Added an old Big D 273 poster
NOVEMBER 2010

NOVEMBER 2010
Added a high res poster to the Erneside Radio page.
NOVEMBER 2010
Added higher res TTTR sticker
NOVEMBER 2010
Added a couple of items to Radio Nova Fahan page.
NOVEMBER 2010
Added a high res poster of Radio Carousel from 1979, and a couple of stickers, including one on Navan 1982 photo page..
NOVEMBER 2010
Added a Radio Nova ratecard folder from October 1984. This is a four and a half meg pdf.
NOVEMBER 2010

Happily all the Irish A/Z files are at least some way semi respectable looking now, and we seem to have got rid of the various menu systems we had over the years, and replaced it with the current navigation system across the board. It has been a long boring task, completing all these pages to our satisfaction, but to be perfectly honect, a well needed upgrade, from the rough and ready approach we used here for many years.

We are now open to contributions from anyone that has material and knowledge to add. We have been promised some slides from a dude who made at least three trips to the republic in the 80's and each time made a major tour of the radio stations. Let's hope he comes good with them, as it would be a pity not to share.

NOVEMBER 2010

Still hammering through the complete Irish pirates A/Z pages, and in fact can see the light at the end of the tunnel, as we near completion of phase 1 of the major upgrade to this site. Phase 1 includes the site navigation menu at the top of each and every page, and getting rid of all the big baby 3d square buttons we used to use. Phase 2 includes getting rid of a lot of the really bad quality scans, which were designed for dial up speeds, and included photos and QSL cards of 8k etc. We will soldier on.
NOVEMBER 2010

Various A/Z files had to be adjusted, due to some stray code, and Community Radio Drogheda links mysteriously appearing. Well not so mysterious. There was a stray link in a template file!! But all sorted and repaired now.
NOVEMBER 2010
Repaired the spelling site wide of BALLAGHADERREEN, spelt wrong since day one of this web site!!!! Almost got in a mess by replacing all the links with upper case first letter, and hence links in the source code wouldn't work. But anyway, they all seem to work fine now. Please do report broken links though.
NOVEMBER 2010
Replaced STEREO THE MAGAZINE pages with 1 pdf of an article from 1984.
NOVEMBER 2010

Updated listings pages with site navigation, and started a frequency page of Irish pirates. Long project.

Also adjusted the Merseyside frequency listings.

NOVEMBER 2010

RADIO WEST (MULLINGAR)

ERI (CORK)

KISS FM (MONAGHAN)

Repaired and modernised three of the stations with multiple sub sections and pages. KISS Monaghan, ERI, and Radio West. Most of the stations left to adjust and insert the site wide pop up menu now will be single pages in the A/Z of Irish pirates. The work is certainly being caught up with after many years dormant.
NOVEMBER 2010
Added a full size Radio Dublin poster from 1983, the ones that were carried around during the march in support of the pirates in May 1983, after the raids.
NOVEMBER 2010
Deleted about 25 blank pages and removed links to these pages, titled as irish_a_to_z_irish_pirates_xxxxx. These were empty pages, created along with the A/Z, but have remained empty for years. We will replace them with pages with content, when time permits, and content is available.
NOVEMBER 2010
Modified the Cavan Community Radio files within the Irish A/Z listings.
NOVEMBER 2010
Radio Impact pages updated with a few photos and a higher res QSL.
NOVEMBER 2010
Updated the Irish FRC magazine pages with a pdf of each copy. This allows us to reduce file numbers on the server and replace around 200 files by about 20 pdf's!!! Also used higher res scans for the Sounds Alternative Mags. This upgrading of res of audio, photos etc will gradually happen in the coming months. The site has been stagnant too long with out old 1996 scans of 8k, designed for dial up!!
NOVEMBER 2010
Upgraded the Q102 pages and created a pdf for the Q102 DIARY.
NOVEMBER 2010
Upgraded Northern Star Radio home page in the A/Z of Irish pirates
NOVEMBER 2010
Upgraded the rough looking South Coast Radio pages
NOVEMBER 2010
Upgraded the Z103 page in the Irish pirate A/Z, and created a pdf of a station booklet.
NOVEMBER 2010
Added a 40 page book given to us during our visit in 1981 to WLR. This is quite a large file, 25 meg pdf.
NOVEMBER 2010
Added a pdf of Sunshine Radio Review, a large Daily Mirror size free newspaper issued after the Sunshine raid. Because of the physical size of the scans, the file is large (24.102k pdf)
NOVEMBER 2010
Added a KCR Kilkenny booklet from 1981. (14,420k pdf file)
NOVEMBER 2010
Capital Radio Cork Christmas magazine, (11,337k pdf file).
NOVEMBER 2010
Added this brochure from ABC Tramore, from what is believed to be 1983, though there are no dates in the booklet itself, even in the adverts.
NOVEMBER 2010
This poster is a great piece of artwork, and a great memory from the 1980's. We have reproduced a full sized poster here of about 4.7 meg, and would probably reprint great in poster size if you take the jpg to a pro printer.
NOVEMBER 2010

Been working through a lot of the A-Z of the Irish pirates, tidying up their pages. Many of the A/Z had little or nothing on them so far, and have been like this for many years. But gradually they will be updated with many of the scans which have been in the archives for many years. The stations home pages that I have started with are the ones associated with a 1981 tour of Ireland.

The stations that have been sorted out include -

WABC, Carousel, Boyneside, Radio Sligo, North West Drumshanbo, Nova, Capital Cork, City Cork, City Dublin, Carol Ann Athlone, Big L Limerick, WCLR Wexford, Kilkenny, Carlow, Big D, Community Radio Youghal, Waterford Local Radio, Suirside Radio Waterford, Radio Carrick, KCR Kildare, WKRC Newbridge, Tipperary Community Radio, KELO Swords, Southside Radio, Sonic, BLB, Sunshine, ARD, Diamond Radio, Dublin Community Radio, Radio Dublin, Double R Radio, TTTR, Radio Leinster, ABC Tramore, CBC Clonmel, Westside Radio, and a few others.

This is an on going proccess, and after the pages are modernised with the pop up menus, the images will be beefed up to a decent res of the image. When we started this project back in 1996, scans were 8k etc for an image designed for dial up connections. Now our real aim is to provide a decent quality archive.

Bear with us.

OCTOBER 2010

Been working for a while on the pages of the 1981 Irish tour, and now instead of 40 separate html files, the story is in two parts. Also been working on some of the other Irish A/Z pages, which will be a home page for every station, and links going from that. Time Time Time. But at least the work is getting done gradually. A few bad files etc have been found and tidied up.
OCTOBER 2010

The brochure was more of a folder with loose sheets inside and a smaller insert, which is at the end of the pdf file.

Again link takes you to an index page, which in this case is still very scarce of entries.

OCTOBER 2010

Added a 5.7 meg pdf file of the ad rates that were sent out from A321, Rosas, Gerona, Spain, in the late 1970's. The large blue booklet had an insert of an ad rate card, which is placed at the end of the pdf.

Once again, link takes you to an index rather than a large pdf file.

OCTOBER 2010

Added an old typed 10 page sheet which was circulated from the PO Box 539, Blackpool address which Sunshine used. The file size is relatively high to preserve legibility on this old faded bunch of sheets. 11 meg pdf document. Link to the Sunshine Radio home page rather than the 11 meg pdf file.

Also upgraded the Daily Mail article from 1981 about Sunshine Radio. The original file was a little poor, and lacking res. Like many of our older files, they were cut and compressed for faster dial up speeds, rather than of archival quality. The whole site should eventually be upgraded to decent res photos and decent res recordings.

OCTOBER 2010
Changed Channel D television article from 4 page html to a single pdf file.
OCTOBER 2010
Added an excellent and detailed article on Radio Brod, the station from the high seas off the coast of Croatia in 1993. The signals reached the UK at night, on 720kHz.
OCTOBER 2010
Modernised the ARD pages, and added high res image of the Crofton in the 1981 photo gallery.
OCTOBER 2010
GENERAL UPDATES
VARIOUS OLD REDUNDANT BITS OF HTML CODE REMOVED FROM VARIOUS PAGES, although no real difference will be seen by web users.
OCTOBER 2010
Updated the Radio Carousel pages in the A/Z of Irish pirates. Added 3 pdf files of Radio Carousel booklets, instead of having about 30 html files and images.
OCTOBER 2010
Updated the Radio Dublin existing material to the current pop up menu format. Added a few pdf files of their history sheets.
OCTOBER 2010
Updated Sunshine Radio Portmarnock's home page and relevant pages. Added pop up menu to the pages that were the old very basic format.
OCTOBER 2010
Added a missing page of photos that were probably once on line here from Big D Automated. A few items went missing during various face lifts to this site, mainly because there are more than one of us working at the site at any given time.
OCTOBER 2010
The audio page of Radio Rainbow contained dead links that we never noticed. Repaired now, and linking properly to the audio files.
OCTOBER 2010
Tidied up the Community Radio Drogheda main page, which was scattered over about 5 pages. Created a pdf for the leaflet instead of having 4 html files.
OCTOBER 2010
The BLB pages seem to have been mistakenly downgraded during the last few months of changes. So they have been brought up to date with the "new clean look", whilst being replaced into the archives.
OCTOBER 2010
NEW URL

We have migrated the html pages to a new and hopefully permanent URL. dxarchive.com. This has been our URL for many years, but the old address with the numbers will not work any more.

Webmasters, please update your links. Thank you.

March 2010
RECORDINGS ADDED
Many new recordings have been added to the download areas, which includes Nova, Caroline in the 80's, South Coast Radio, Irish closedowns in 1988.
March 2010
