IRISH PIRATES A / Z

Dublin's country music channel, TTTR, began the spring of 1981, and continued until the end of December 1988 when it closed due to impending legislation. The engineer from at least 86-88, was Tony Mulligan, who was known to SW listeners as Phil Dixon of South Dublin Radio.

Our earliest photos are from August 1981, when the station was beside Nova in the yard of what was to become The Nova Park, named after a certain Zurich hotel which used to advertise on RNI in the early 70s. The door into the white coloured hut, was into the then TTTR studio.

The only two photographs from our August 1981 trip.
Left shows the studio shed which was at the side of the Greenacres Country Club.  It was difficult to get a photo of the studio equipment due to its shape and size, but if you click on the photo above for a bigger image, you can just about make out some of the information on the walls.

The studio door to the Treble T R Radio studio when it was located in the old Apollo Cinema in Walkinstown.
Also three photos of the on-air studio believed taken in October 1983.
Note that the FM frequency of 97FM is stated on the studio door, but there is a notice in the studio for 99.5MHz
which suggests the photos were during the changeover.

The production area and below, the FM transmitter located in the old Apollo Cinema.
All photos believed taken in October 1983.
