It was never my intention to produce/ make available mp3 CDs. I have had a pipe dream for a few years that we will eventually have very high upper limits of server capacity available for on line public archiving, downloading, and file sharing. This dream may be a few years away, but is gradually coming to pass. However, there are three reasons for producing material on CD. The first two are quite obvious but the third may come as a surprise.

1) There are still a lot of folks out there who may visit the download pages of TADX/ mediumwaveradio, and are unable to download the large full bit rate files because of their dial up connection speed. When I was on dial up, (only had broadband since June 2007) the speed of my lines made even downloading a mere 5 meg impractical. CD versions of the on line downloads are also available. Simply get in touch.

2) After adding the download pages to the site, there was such an unexpected rush initially, that two or three times the server shut itself down due to the excessive volume of traffic. The early pandemonium seems to have calmed thankfully, but the download site was on and off for a while. The problem with 30 & 40 Meg files was never going to improve when old programmes from reel to reel tapes were converted and added. Some of my old reels have six and a half hour continuous recordings of various stations from the late 80s. There are not so many mp3s of that length available in one piece, and because of that I am reluctant to split them. For these long recordings, the file size can be a few hundred meg. This would put more strain on the server's bandwidth.

3) Most importantly, much of this material was originally donated in good faith to a "charitable cause", but sadly the said "charitable cause" turned out to be nothing more than yet another scam, and not the charitable cause as I was misled into believing it was. This well and truly destroyed the so called "good faith" factor. I don't understand the attitude towards scammers nowadays. So many folks seem to take it as part of modern day life. To discourage further dishonesty, this set of disks have been issued via the mediumwaveradio.org web site, making use of the said material.

NOVEMBER 2008: THE MEDIUMWAVERADIO WEB SITE HAS GONE OFF LINE, SO TONY'S ON LINE SALES PAGE IS CLOSED. MOST FOLKS INTERESTED IN THESE RECORDINGS SEEM TO HAVE BROADBAND NOWADAYS ANYWAY..

NB: The historic material on the radio CDs is for private use, and not for resale. Commercial use strictly forbidden.
